So I didn’t end up making my flight to Kosovo. I ended up spending my few days in Milan, Italy, which wasn’t a bad second choice. I didn’t really have time to prepare for my trip there, since it was pretty last minute so I mainly just spent time walking around and enjoying the food and scenery. It was good weather as well, however I got sick on my last day and am still recovering. On Thursday I go to Morocco for literally like a day and a half with a male friend (which should make things easier). I am VERY excited and expect to make all my flights.
Other than that I have just been hanging around Madrid. They have this photo thing about a bunch of museums and galleries that I have been taking advantage of as it is free and air conditioned. That is another thing, it is SUPER hot here. All the time. Luckily we have air conditioning in my apartment or being sick would be much more awful.
Also my friend from school is coming to visit me at the end of the month which I am excited about. I’m excited to show her around Madrid, I think she’ll like it. She also came to visit me in Door County about a year ago. It should be fun!!

DONE!

Hello! I am finally back to be a real person, slightly, after a nap , cleaning my room, and FINISHING MY FINALS! I had my last one today at 10 am. I think it went ok and handed in my last paper. I feel like a tourist although I am realizing how fast this next month is going to go which makes me sad. Anyways, I think I did ok in most of them. I think I find out next week for most of them.
Also, Aunt Beth I sent the Flat Jack yesterday. I hope it comes in time.
I have a few trips planned for June, although I want to spend a lot of time in Madrid as well. From the 8th to the 11th I go to Pristina, Kosovo to visit some friends I met in my Krakow Poland program last summer. Then when I come back a friend and I are going to San Sebastian and Biblao which are in the north of Spain. Then the 18th through the 20th I go to Morocco. So it will be a good amount of traveling. The rest of the time I plan on spending in Madrid, visiting with our friends Laura and Javier and their twin sons along with general walking around.
All in all, it was a really great experience. Although I haven’t gotten my grades back. I would recommend it to anyone and am very glad I left New York for the semester, although I miss it. Anyways, I am going to meet some friends so I will write more later!

Almost May

Caitlin | Just Words | Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

Hello everyone. sorry I have been bad with this. I am not sure when the photos will be up but hopefully sometime soon. The internet connection in Spain is not that great so it has been some things difficult and annoying.
On another note, I am starting to be reminded of what it is like to be a real student. I have to write 5 papers and have 5 exams which I am not happy about. Although 1 paper is able to be written in English on an English book. I am done with half my classes the 14th and the other half towards the end of May. I am looking forward to coming back but at the same time have really enjoyed being here.
Another exciting piece of news is that a friend and I are going to Morocco. Unfortunetly it is only for 48 hours because he is going to eastern Europe. I was told that I could only go to Morocco if I went with at least one other boy so I am taking what I can get but am excited nonetheless.
It is starting to get warmer here which is nice but I wish it would stay a little cooler longer. We had class canceled Monday because it was the patron saint of our Faculty. Spain is weird like that. We also have Friday off for a fiesta of the communidad de Madrid, also known as labor day. It’s nice that they have all these breaks. It makes the semester really short. Anyways, I can’t think of much else exciting going on!

Spring Break

Caitlin | Just Words | Tuesday, April 14th, 2009

Hello everyone and sorry it has been awhile. I am back from spring break. I went to Frankfurt and Berlin. It was AMAZING! I stayed in Frankfurt with Aunt Laura’s sister. Her house is beautiful. Her daughter Hannah (and her boyfriend Max) and son Jonathan showed me around. It was really great. The food was good. I have pork chops and kraut with potatoes with Applewine. It was really good.
After being in Frankfurt I went to Berlin and met up with a kid from my program. Berlin was truly amazing. The city was really cool, all the old buildings from the Soviet times. Also the city was pretty cheap compared to Spain. We mostly ate bread and cheese but the beer was cheap and good. At least better than in Spain. I would love to visit again. There are a lot of young people there too and from all over. It was really great. The weather was really nice as well. I was very lucky. Anyways, overall I had a really great time and will be posting photos very soon!

St. Patricks Day!

Caitlin | Just Words | Tuesday, March 17th, 2009

Hello everyone! I hope you are enjoying St. Patrick’s Day. I am about to head out and meet some friends but thought I would write a little something before hand. I had a nice visit with my mom and have finally recovered. It was quick but nice. I am going to Barcelona tomorrow until Saturday to visit a good friend from school. We have Thursday off from classes so I’m skipping one class to go there. I have been encouraged by my professors so don’t worry! There are also two other students studying there as well from my school.
I PROMISE I will post photos soon. I will be having midterms soon which is also a little scary. Anyways, I hope you guys are celebrating!
